I am a passionate knitter, spinner, fiber artist and photographer. I spend most of my days creating new handmade goods or shooting fine art photographs. Most of my goods are knitting needle cases, handspun yarn, and perhaps some fiber here and there.
My knitting and fiber fascination all started with a simple drop spindle. Quickly my new obsession grew to take over our dinning room and then my studio. The process of transforming natural fiber from a sheep, alpaca or angora rabbit into something usable is simply amazing. I truly love the process from shearing the animal to using the finished fiber project. Adding color to the mix is where I can express more of my creativity. The smell of the fiber in a dye bath churns my creative wheels – pumping out project ideas for the fiber before it is even ready!
: My other creative side :
I am a self-taught photographer in search of light and shadows, the perfect sunset, a day without a breeze, and the beauty of nature. I love to experiment with different styles and techniques in-camera and in the digital darkroom. What intrigues me the most are the small things I cannot see with my naked eye, but can capture with a camera and share with others. I tend to go through color phases and styles – sometimes in the same week! Pink and red shades always catch my eye as well as deep saturated colors. I’ve found myself crouching down or peering into the smallest areas for the perfect close-up. In my photography you will see close-ups of flowers, textures, nature and other little joys to please your eyes. Changing a simple photograph into a piece of art from a captured scene is really my passion.
Currently I reside in the lower peninsula of Michigan. The ever changing four seasons provide spectacular views of nature, landscapes and photographic moments around every corner. As I was growing up, I always found myself looking for the perfect postcard photo to capture as a memory of the moment. Today I still look to capture these scenes big and small to reflect back to as I grow older.
My photographs are available in many sizes matted and unmatted. Photos are printed on acid-free archival professional paper with stunning details and color to last a lifetime. I use professional labs and print in my studio with a giclee type printer. All prints are guaranteed to meet your satisfaction. I only sell prints I am proud to show as a representation of the quality of my work. Others are discarded. All prints are signed either on the photo, on the back or on the mat.
Contact me for more information, to commission photography work or for any other opportunity. My photographs are in private collections across the United States and internationally. I am looking for exhibitions and galleries to feature my work.
Oh, and, sometimes, I rant about my daily life and running a family by the seat of my pants on my blog.
